On The Runway: Buckler Fall/Winter 2008

During ENK/IMG's Men's Fashion week at Pier 92 in Manhattan on Monday, I caught Buckler's Fall/Winter 2008 presentation. Designer Andrew Buckler always delivers a fun-filled fashion show with rock n' roll theatrics that capture the spirit of his designs.

For Andrew Buckler's latest collection, the looks ranged from the wild rock star metallic leather pants and bondage-inspired leather suspenders with copper chains to refined knit two-tone sweater vests (or was it a cardigan?) and two- and three-piece suits that could almost fit into a collection for Michael Kors.

The collection truly ran the gamut cherry picking iconic styles from 60s mod, 70s glam, 90s minimalism and even some futuristic looks were reminiscent of Nicholas Ghesquiere's future-perfect looks from his Spring 2007 ready-to-wear collection.

Denim was also a big part of the collection as Buckler has made his name hawking the work wear. Despite my prayers for a break from the skin-tight styles, skinny jeans still looked fresh in bold white, gray and oil-slick black hues.

Outerwear was the real star of the show. The cream-colored trench and fur-trimmed hooded coat looked incredibly chic without losing that rocker edge.

Overall, despite a couple seemingly random looks and a little trouble with overall cohesion, the collection offered something for every rock star from Marilyn Manson to Brandon Flowers—and every rock star wannabe. Some of the statement pieces in the collection would amp up any dull look though they aren't for the meek.
