Quickies: Margiela Leaving? New Faces at Next Month's Men's Shows, Karl Lagerfeld Hates Swans, +

Rumors are again afloat that Martin Margiela is leaving or has already left his Maison. Eventually, Mr. Margiela, publicity stunts just turn annoyances. [JC Report

Next month's men's shows in Paris and Milan should be a bit more energetic than last season's dreary showing. A slew of new and old favorite designers will show and present collections, which will hopefully amp up both weeks. [WWD] via [The Cut

Dolce & Gabbana won't ever do a diffusion line. When asked about the possibility of working with H&M
Stefano Gabbana responded "No, we don’t need to. That kind of exposure could be dangerous for us." [Telegraph UK

Fashion types apparently love NYC's park-in-the-sky, The High Line. Calvin Klein is throwing a pary there this summer. Layman's would also probably love it if a) invited to CK's party or b) if they would open it to the public already. [WWD]

H&M's Star Studded Roster for Fashion Against AIDS 2009

Picture 5

For their second consecutive year, H&M and Designers Against Aids (DAA) are teaming up for the Fashion Against AIDS apparel campaign, enlisting some of the biggest names in fashion, music, art and entertainment to design limited edition t-shirts for the H&M label. Among participants this year are Estelle, N.E.R.D, Katy Perry, Robyn, Dita von Teese and Yoko Ono, all of whom helped design shirts in a 80's edgy style, with 25% of sales go to to HIV/AIDS prevention projects of Designers Against Aids, UNFPA, MTV's Staying Alive Foundation and YouthAIDS. Each tee is emblazoned with an empowering message about safe sex, one of the best being Katy Perry's, which reads "WHAT'S ON THE OUTSIDE IS WHAT COUNTS." So if you're willing to do some fashion philanthropy look for the t-shirts to hit H&M starting in June 2009 in the H&M DIVIDED departments of over 1000 stores in 30 countries.

And remember to wrap it up.

Matthew Williamson For H&M

Picture 1
It's a mere 13 days before Matthew Williamson's men's line hits H&M stores, but that doesn't mean you can't get your checklist ready for the big day now. His womenswear was well received, though not frantically so -- understandable considering his penchant for pows of color and idiosyncratic details that one wouldn't necessarily call classic. Nevertheless, his amped-up version of, well, everything will at least allow you to be a bit quirky and fun in this dowdy recession.

Quickies: Thom Browne Not Bankrupt, But Marc Ecko May Be, Thierry Mugler's Beyonce Costumes, +

Thom Browne was reportedly in danger of bankruptcy, but now the designer claims that isn't so. He would still appreciate a financial backer, however, to grow. [WWD]

The same cannot be said, however, for Marc Ecko. The Post is reporting that he owes investors upwards of $170 million and has to make cuts across the board. The lable says the situation is not "life-threatening at all." [NYP]

Thierry Mugler's costumes for Beyonce's tour have been revealed. They're being labled "Sasha Warrior" and, yes, it still incorporates that metal glove thing.  [The Cut

Matthew Williamson has this to say about his new menswear line: "For the first time in 12 years, I could think of what I’d want to wear myself. I went to my wardrobe and picked out my favorite pieces and reworked things I’ve collected. The vibe is British boy on holiday in Cuba returning to England by way of Ibiza or one of the Greek islands.” [NYP]

H&M Welcomes Spring With...Vincent Gallo?

6a00d8341ca4b653ef01127963eb1228a4-800wi

A man of questionable report, Vincent Gallo cleans up quite nicely. Evidence: the new H&M spring ad campaign featuring the indie actor alongside Shalom Harlow and Eva Herzigova in spring classics - prints! khaki! color! Gallo et al are arranged amid equally engaging scarlet geometry. His appeal may never be fully understood, but even the greatest against-the-grainers can make spring fashion provocative.

Quickies: Jay McCarroll's new documentary, CK's new steamy TV ad and more

Who cares about the Vogue documentary. Project Runway's Jay McCarroll has his own, too! The movie, called Eleven Minutes, follows McCarroll for a full year while he tires to ready his first independent collection for New York Fashion Week. Oh the one-liner possibilities! [Fashionista

In case there is any speculation, Valentino is, in fact, retired. He's left all design duties to newly appointed Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli (what a mouthful). Says V himself: "If I decided to attend the presentation of their collection, it will only be as a supporter of two people I love and who have been close to me for man years." [British Vogue]

Tommy Hilfiger and Markey Ramone, of -- who else -- The Ramones, are launching a clothing line. Tommy's brother, Andy, used to be in a band with Markey, thus Markey has known Tommy for 23 years, so, by the Pythagorean theory (or something), it's time for a rock n' roll clothing line! [Fashionista

Calvin Klein's new TV commercial is so hot it was initially banned -- even from late-night TV. Directed by Steven Meisel, the spot will now be the lead on the company's e-commerce site which launches tomorrow. An edited version will run in the U.S. while European countries will, of course, get the full steamy ad. [WWD]

How to cut costs in rough financial times? Model your own clothes. Matthew Williamson will serve as the face of his new menswear collection set to launch at H&M in April. [WWD]

London Fashion Week will get a little more manly this season. The British Fashion Council said Tuesday it has extended its show schedule by one day to add a program of 13 designers' men's shows on February 25th, the first day of Milan Fashion Week. [WWD]

Couture collections have been showing in Paris in all their extravagant, drag queen-ish glory. We see these $50,000 dresses and think "who buys them?" Reuters found out. [Reuters] And check out Style.com for the collections if you're interested.

Summer comes early with Out's February swimsuit issue

Buffalo_2 Photo: Xevi Muntane

The bleary days of early January are no match for smokin' models in skimpy swimsuits. Luckily, Out's February issue is chock full of them including Andres Velencoso Segura who traveled -- along with photographer Xevi Muntane and Out's Fashion Director Grant Woolhead -- to the Evergaldes for our Buffalo Stance shoot inspired by the late style icon Ray Petri.

Segura may look familiar as his beautiful mug and body have graced the ad campaigns and runways of almost every major label from Louis Vuitton to H&M. And you're guaranteed to see a lot more of him in the near future as just yesterday he was identified by Hello! magazine as Kylie Minogue's new beau.

Head over to Out.com to ogle Segura in all his bayou-wading glory and get ready for more fashion, style, and celebrities from our February issue to keep you hot and bothered all winter long.

David LaChapelle (pictured) is opening a photo exhibition at the Hôtel de la Monnaie in Paris. Running from Feb. 5th to May 31st, the collection will include over 200 images snapped by LaChapelle -- including one of a crowned Madonna clutching a thorny heart -- as well as a new series of 3-D photo installations. DNR, in one of its last authoritarian decrees before bowing out, named the top 50 mega brands. The top 5? Fruit of the Loom, Levi's, Hanes, Wrangler and Dockers. Thank you, middle America. [DNR]

Balmain will unveil a new men's collection in Paris in January during men's fashion week. It may be a little behind schedule, but designer Christopher Decarnin's stuff should be worth the wait. [WWD]
